Cap Classique, conversations about art, indigenous music and the opening of an exhibition that makes a difference
On Tuesday morning 19 October Paul Roos Gymnasium is hosting a special event for lovers of art, education, and music. “See You at Tea” is the official opening of the “See and Be Seen” Art Exhibition, brought to you by Investec.
Members of the Paul Roos and Stellenbosch community are invited to come and enjoy a collaborative and inspirational celebration of the arts. Art journalist Johan van Lill (Radio Sonder Grense, Fine Music Radio) will be facilitating an interesting art inspired conversation with acclaimed international author Deon Meyer, and Luna Paige (outreach project coordinator) – who will share information about the “See and Be Seen” outreach programme in partnership with the Rupert Museum, the story and dream behind it, and the learners whose artworks are included in the exhibition.
The audience will not only get to view art by talented learners, upcoming artists from the community, works by celebrities as well as world-renowned and award-winning artists – but can also look forward to the music of internationally recognised indigenous musician Dizu Plaatjies and his peers in the Plaatjies African Quintet. The Paul Roos Gymnasium Big Band will also be present to perform a couple of their favourite songs. Tickets cost R250 and include delicious treats and Spier MCC. All proceeds go towards the Sponsor-a-Paul-Rooser fund, aimed at supporting Paul Roos learners from disadvantaged communities in successfully completing their five years of education at Paul Roos Gymnasium.
