PRG se Graad 8’s skop 2022 met ‘n bedrywige week af
Op Dinsdag 18 Januarie 2022 het Paul Roos se klas van 2026 hul eerste week van hoërskool afgeskop.
Die senuwees en opgewondenheid van leerders en hul ouers was tasbaar. Graad 8’s het ‘n besige oriënteringsprogram deur die loop van dié dag beleef.
Hul eerste dag by die skool is afgesluit met ‘n oueraand waar ouers mekaar, skoolpersoneel en die skool in geheel kon leer ken. Dit was spesiaal om ‘n foto van oudskoliere, hul seuns en kleinseuns wat 2022 by Paul Roos aangesluit het, te neem.
54 Grade 8 learners moved into Prima and Nova Hostels: 20 joined Prima and 34 joined Nova. Secunda, the new hostel, is at full capacity and is occupied by 18 Grade 9 learners. The first week kicked off with social and sporting activities organised by the house committees of the respective hostels. The learners were also given the opportunity to connect with the grade 8s from one of our sister schools, Hoër Meisieskool Bloemhof.
PRG is trots op sy mentorskapprogram wat gemik is daarop om emosionele en praktiese dag-tot-dag ondersteuning aan Graad 8 leerders te bied. Ongeveer 110 matriekleerders het vanjaar hul dienste as mentors aangebied. Tydens ‘n spesiale geleentheid het alle Graad 8’s die kans gehad om Matrieks met gemeenskaplike belangstellings te ontmoet en kortliks mee te gesels. Na afloop van die ontmoetingsessie is Graad 8’s elkeen ‘n Matriekmentor toegestaan, by wie hulle ondersteuning deur die loop van 2022 sal ontvang.
The afternoons were jam-packed with cricket, water polo and golf trials. Eighty Grade 8s participated in the cricket trials, 75 in the water polo trials and 20 in the golf trials over the weekend. All teams will be announced over the coming week.
The highlight of the week was the PRG Interhouse Athletics which took place on Friday, 21 January for the first time in two years. Spirits were high and great sportsmanship was on display throughout the day –a good indication of a fantastic athletics year. The Grade 8 learners’ whose athletic performances stood out on the day are:
Dane Jacobs – Gold for U14 100m and U14 Long jump
Mark Lester – Gold for U14 800m and U14 1500m
Marcus Viljoen – Gold for U14 100m Hurdles and Silver U14 for High jump
Riaan Simon – Gold for U14 High jump, Silver for 100m Hurdles, and Bronze for U14 100m
Josh Venter – Gold for U14 Shotput and U14 Discus
Op Saterdag 22 Januarie is die oriënteringsprogram afgesluit met ‘n spesiale A-dag seremonie waar alle Graad 8’s hul skooldasse en -keppies ontvang het. Na dié oorhandigings word die Graad 8’s van 2022 as offisiële Paul Roosers erken en omarm. Paul Roos wens hul ‘n goeie akademiese jaar toe.
