Paul Roos Gymnasium hosted a memorable day of chess at the Markötter Sports Complex, bringing together young minds from across the Western Cape.

Learners from Bonga Primary, Langa Primary, New Orleans Primary, Heathfield High School, Steenberg High School, and Paul Roos Gymnasium came together for a day centered on learning, exposure and opportunity.

With distinguished guests and respected figures from the chess community in attendance, learners had the chance to engage with leaders helping shape the future of chess in South Africa and across the continent. The event also formed part of the growing excitement surrounding Stellenbosch’s hosting of the first African qualifier for the World Schools Team Chess Championship.

It was a privilege to capture a day where strategy met inspiration, and where the next generation of players took another step forward.
