A first for isiXhosa
Wamkelekile kwiMasithethe!
Paul Roos Gymnasium and ENSafrica are proud to announce the launch of the Masithethe! isiXhosa Oratory Competition for high school learners.
On Thursday, 24 Feb, 17 teachers from 8 different schools held a workshop to raise awareness of this initiative amongst neighbouring schools and to standardise the judging process of the competition. Educators will now start training learners for the first round of the competition on 14 May 2022. Learners will be able to take part in different age groups (junior and senior) as well as on different levels (Home Language, First Additional Language and Second Additional Language). Learners can either give an informative speech, an entertaining speech or a persuasive speech. The aim of this competition is to promote multi-language use in South Africa and provide a platform for isiXhosa speakers to share their thoughts, experiences and stories. Natasha Wagiet (ENSafrica) concluded the workshop by thanking all attending teachers for investing their time and skills to create important growth opportunities for their learners.
