PRG celebrates 160 years
Ons vier vandag, 1 Maart 2026, Paul Roos Gimnasium se 160ste bestaansjaar met diepe dankbaarheid. Vanuit ‘n nederige begin in 1866 het die skool gegroei tot ‘n instelling van uitnemendheid wat sy stigters se mees ambisieuse verwagtinge oortref het. Paul Roos Gimnasium is vandag ‘n wêreldbekende demonstrasie van die krag van kwaliteit opvoeding. Die afgelope 160 jaar was die vergestalting van ons leuse, Semper Splendidior, en ons gaan die toekoms in met die wind in ons seile, gerugsteun deur ons gemeenskap, geloof en ononderhandelbare kernwaardes.
PRG’s celebrations kicked off with the traditional Founder’s Day assembly. We were honoured to have Dr Braam Hanekom (matric 1977) and Mr Frans van Niekerk, who served the school for 38 years, address the boys on this special day. The recurring thread of the morning was acknowledging the past to look to the future. This theme was further established in the traditional wreath-laying ceremony that the Grade 8s attended.
